Bootstraps
I scroll through the job postings
Scanning the words, the phrases
But they all say the same thing
"Must be able to live 50 pounds"
"Can stand for long periods of time"
(No disabilities)
I feel my heart sink
As I realize the truth
I am not wanted here
I am a burden to capitalism
For in its never-ending thirst
For production, for profit
Disability is seen as a flaw
A weakness, an inconvenience
I am not seen as a person
But as a hindrance to progress
My worth determined by my ability
To contribute to the bottom line
